Windows 10 - Universal Apps

A First look at the Windows 10 Universal Apps

Windows 10 represents the culmination of our platform convergence journey with Windows now running on a single, unified Windows core. This convergence enables one app to run on every Windows device – on the phone in your pocket, the tablet or laptop in your bag, the PC on your desk, and the Xbox console in your living room. And that’s not even mentioning all the new devices being added to the Windows family, including the Holo Lens, Surface Hub, and IoT devices like the Raspberry Pi 2. All these Windows devices will now access one Store for app acquisition, distribution and update.

With Windows 10, we are leading a new path forward for mobile experiences – breaking out of the limited box of just mobile devices and empowering customers take full advantage of all of the screens in their life. For Windows, these mobile experiences are powered by our one Windows core and the universal app platform. As we built the universal app platform, we set out to ensure that all Windows developers would equally benefit from this one core. The platform enables a new class of Windows universal apps – apps that are truly written once, with one set of business logic and one UI. Apps that are delivered to one Store within one package. Apps that are able to reach every Windows 10 device the developer wants to reach. Apps that feel consistent and familiar to the customer on all devices, while also contextually appropriate to each device’s input model and screen size. The new universal app platform completes our developer platform convergence by providing you with the ability to finally create one app that can run on mobile, desktop, console, holographic, and even IoT devices.

Microsoft and Samsung are friends again!

Back in August 2014, Microsoft took Samsung to court seeking enforcement over the royalty payments on Android devices. The two tech giants had signed two contracts in 2011. But in February 2015, the two giants have announced in the court of U.S that they both have agreed upon on a "confidential" agreement and their dispute has now ended. Do not know how, but back-channel talks has worked it out or maybe it is because of Satya Nadella's peacful mind!.

Visual Studio is for all ...

From Web Applications to Windows Applications and now moving towards Mobile Applications, Visual Studio has been and still in drastic use for programming. The previous versions like Ultimate 2013 Update 4 had many great features and much more user friendly environment but it has not stopped now. Let me tell you all about some outstanding features that are about to come for developers of Visual Studio 2015! Yes, you read it correct. Microsoft is going to launch a newer version of Visual Studio this year!

The top features that are most awaited by the developers will be:

1. Custom Window Layout:

It does not matter if you use a 17" monitor or LCD or if you are using Surface Pro, you can apply the layout of Visual Studio considering the screen size and vision you have. Isnt it interesting? No more, boring same layout all the time! Change whenever you want and whatever your screen will adopt.

2. Better Code Editing

Do you face difficulties in writing the code? Do you get confuse while coding? You do not need to be anymore, VS 2015 will going to have Roslyn compiler now. A "bulb" feature which will be lighted up as you make any mistake in syntax. Just click that "bulb" and it will suggest you the correct code. Simple, isnt it?

3. Blend for VS 2015

Blend for Visual Studio 2015 will going to be as rocking as before. The custom window layout, Intellisense in XAML, Source Control and NuGet Packages are going to be more enhanced as before.

These features are just a preview but i think there will be more in VS 2015 that we expecting. :)
